Pages

New pages can be added by clicking pages on admin dashboard and can be assigned to various templates on the right side.

You can assign various page templates to a page.

a. Default Template ( default page with right sidebar )
b. Charity Review Blog ( blog page )
c. Frontpage ( front page with slider and various sections )
d. Full Width Page ( full width page with no sidebar )
e. Left Sidebar Page ( page with left sidebar )

Widgets

You can add widgets to pre-footer section and sidebar.
Go to Appearance > Widgets
Select required widgets as per your requirements
Assign to widgets.

Posts

CREATING POSTS
Step 1: Navigate to Posts in you WordPress admin sidebar.
Step 2: Click on the Add New option to make a new post. Create a title, and insert your post content in the editing field.
Step 3: Select Post Format from the right side.

Step 4: Add categories from the right side. To assign it to the post, check the box next to the category name.

Step 5: Add tags from the right side. Type the name of the tag in the field, separate multiple tags with commas.
Step 6: You can add featured image. To do so, first click the featured image box, select an image and click the set featured image button.
Step 7: For a video post or an audio post, paste the iFrame embed or link either from Youtube, Vimeo or soundcloud. Note: activate shortcode embeds (Jetpack ) .

Menu Setup

Charity provides advanced menu setup. There is Header Menu where you can assign menu.

1. Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus on admin sidebar.
2. Click Create a new menu or select a menu.

3. In order to add menu,
a. Select pages, categories, posts etc. as per requirement
b. Click on add to menu.

c. Then assign it to header menu and click “save menu”.

Footer Sections

SOCIAL MEDIA SECTION

Here you can add links of various social networking sites like facebook, twitter, instagram etc.
If the field is left blank then no icon of respective blank field will not be shown in the front end

Under this section you can add background image and title to the social media section.

COPYRIGHT & POWERED BY

Here you can change the copyright text for the site which will appear in footer

Front Page

HOME PAGE SLIDER


You can add multiple posts to the home page slider where featured image of posts will be taken as slider image. If you don’t want slider, you can choose ‘None’.

Below slider there will be shown two latest post of category that you will select from the dropdown.

FROM THE BLOG

From the blog section displays three posts from the category that you choose. It allows you to change the background image of the section, button text and title color.

In this section you can share your charity mission. You can change background image, mission title, mission content and URL

In this section you can add testimonial of a person.

WordPress Configuration

Adjust WordPress settings as follows:
1. Set Site Title in Settings > General.
2. Set Blog pages show at most in Settings > Reading.
3. Select Front Page and Posts Page in Settings > Reading.

4. Set Discussion settings in Settings > Discussion.
5. Change image sizes in Settings > Media.
6. You should ensure that a non-default permalink setting is selected, e.g. Post name in Settings > Permalinks.

After Installing and activating the theme you will see the following message at the top of the page.

  • This theme requires the following plugins.
  • Click Begin installing plugins link.

Theme Installation

Install theme via WordPress Admin Panel
1. Open WordPress admin panel (navigate through web browser to the folder where you have installed the WordPress e.g. www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ ) and go Appearance > Themes on admin sidebar.

2. Click Add New link and click Upload Theme link.
3. Activate Charity Review theme.

4. Set Discussion settings in Settings > Discussion.

Build Your Site

Before building your site you need to configure WordPress and the plugins. Please read carefully Theme Installation/Plugin Configuration.

Installing The Theme

Installing The Theme via WordPress Dashboard

To Install a Theme via WordPress Dashboard follow these steps:

  1. Go to your WordPress Admin Panel & Log in (Ex: http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin)
  2. Go to Appearance -> Themes -> Add New
  3. From top, Click on Upload Theme
  4. Choose the ZIP file you’ve downloaded & Click Install Now
  5. Click on Activate to active the theme

Installing The Theme via FTP

To install a WordPress Theme via FTP, follow these steps:

We will be using Filezilla

  1. Open Filezilla
  2. Enter the FTP account details provided by your web host in Host, Username & Password field
                          Host: Server hostname (FTP.yourdomain.com)
                         
    Username: Your Username
                         
    Password: Your Password
  3. Once connected, you’ll see two panes.
                          Left Pane (Local Site): Shows the files on your computer
                          Right Pane (Remote Site): Shows the files currently on the web server.
  4. Locate your root folder (Ex: public_html)
  5. Extract the theme file; drag & drop the unzipped theme folder to wp-content/themes directory.
  6. If you’re done uploading files, to disconnect just click the disconnect icon
  7. Activate the theme from Appearance -> Themes

Customizer

Configure customizer options in Customize on admin sidebar.

1. You can set title, tagline and keep logo of your site from the first option.
a. If no logo image is added then the title and tagline will be displayed in the logo’s place.

2. The next option is Layout & Design.

a. Under Width & Layout option you can set width and layout of the site.

You can choose boxed or full width layout of the site.
You can set maximum width of the site.
You can choose Layout of archive, search, category, single pages.

b. Under Logo Color Settings you can set color settings of logo.
